1. Vehicle Checklist Before Setting Off
The first rule of a safe shipping expedition begins before the wheels turn. Tire pressures, brake pads, trailer couplings and headlight systems should be checked before each trip. A small technical malfunction can lead to irreparable accidents on the highway.
2. Fighting Insomnia and Fatigue
One of the biggest causes of accidents in the logistics industry is tired driving. Legal driving and rest periods (tachograph limits) must be strictly observed. Instead of relying on caffeine when you feel sleepy, pulling over to a safe pocket and taking a nap for at least 20-30 minutes saves your life.
3. Weather and Route Tracking
Especially in winter months or on mountainous routes, your chains should be ready against the risk of snow, rain and hidden ice. You should avoid sudden braking while driving and increase the following distance at least three times compared to normal vehicles.
4. Cargo Security
Make sure that the load you carry is evenly distributed inside the trailer and that the fixing straps (spanset) are tightly fastened. Swaying the load on bends may cause the truck to overturn.
